Batteries & backup

Storage needs a reason—not just a brochure.

A battery can shift solar into the evening, support selected loads during an outage and increase energy independence. We help you decide whether those benefits suit your property.

01

Evening electricity use

Store daytime generation and use it after sunset instead of exporting first and buying power back later.

02

Backup during outages

A compatible battery system can support planned circuits when the grid is unavailable.

03

Low export value

Storage can become more useful when exported energy is worth much less than electricity purchased later.

04

Greater independence

Some customers value using more of their own generation even when financial payback is not the only goal.

BACKUP IS A DESIGN DECISION

Decide what needs to stay on.

“Whole-home backup” and “essential-load backup” can require very different equipment, capacity and expectations.

01

Essential circuitsLighting, refrigeration, internet, selected outlets, pumps or other priorities.

02

Large loadsCooking, hot water, EV charging, heating and pumps can quickly change the battery requirement.

03

Outage durationA short interruption and an extended rural outage are not the same design problem.

04

Solar during an outageThe system must be designed so compatible solar can safely support or recharge the battery when islanded.

CHOOSE YOUR PATH

Storage now, later, or not at all.

The best choice can be staged. We make the future limitations clear before the first system is installed.

01

Solar only

Use solar directly and keep the first stage simple where the load profile supports it.

02

Battery-ready

Install a suitable hybrid inverter and plan space, cabling and compatibility for a later battery.

03

Solar + storage

Size the array, inverter, battery and backup arrangement as one coordinated system.

BATTERY QUESTIONS

Set the right expectations.

Capacity, power output, backup arrangement and compatibility all matter.

Will a battery run my whole house?+

It depends on the battery power, capacity, inverter, wiring arrangement and which loads operate at the same time. We define the backup scope rather than assuming every appliance will run normally.

Can I add a battery to existing solar?+

Often, but compatibility and the best connection method must be checked. The existing inverter, switchboard and system architecture all matter.

Does a battery recharge during an outage?+

Some correctly configured systems can recharge from solar while operating in backup mode. This must be supported by the equipment and installation design.

How much storage do I need?+

We look at evening energy use, desired backup duration, large loads and how much solar is available to refill the battery.
