Solar for homes and businesses across Christchurch & Canterbury

Powered by Grenz Electrical

Commercial solar

Turn daytime demand into an advantage.

Commercial solar works best when the array, operating profile and site constraints are considered together. We help define the practical system—not just a panel count.

01

Daytime load

Operating hours, interval data and seasonal demand show how much solar the site can use directly.

02

Roof and site

Available area, structure, access, shading, roof condition and cable routes all affect the practical layout.

03

Network and export

Connection limits and export settings need to be understood before the system size is finalised.

04

Future demand

EV charging, machinery, electrification and business growth should be considered before equipment is selected.

FROM DATA TO HANDOVER

A practical project pathway.

Commercial work needs clear responsibilities and site coordination. We define the scope, work with the relevant design and supply partners, and complete the electrical installation through Grenz Electrical.

01

ReviewBills, interval data, operating hours, site plans and project goals.

02

AssessRoof, electrical infrastructure, access, shutdown needs and network constraints.

03

PlanSystem design, equipment, programme, safety controls and stakeholder responsibilities.

04

DeliverInstallation, testing, commissioning, documentation and handover.

SUITED TO THE SITE

Commercial and rural applications.

The same design logic applies across different properties: understand the load, use the available space well and make the installation maintainable.

01

Warehouses & workshops

Large roof areas and steady weekday loads can create a strong match for solar generation.

02

Retail & offices

Daytime cooling, lighting and equipment loads can often align well with production.

03

Farms & rural sites

Pumps, refrigeration, workshops, homes and resilience requirements need to be considered together.

04

Battery & backup projects

Storage may support resilience, load management or a specific operational need where the numbers justify it.

COMMERCIAL QUESTIONS

Important points to resolve early.

Answers depend on the site and network connection, so these begin the conversation.

Can solar be installed without stopping operations?+

Much of the work can often be planned around normal operations, but final connections or switchboard work may require a controlled shutdown. We identify this during planning.

Do we need a battery?+

Not automatically. A strong daytime load may already use a large portion of solar directly. Storage needs a specific operational or financial reason.

Can you work with our consultant or supplier?+

Yes. Grenz Electrical regularly partners with New Zealand design and supply businesses and can work within an agreed project scope.

What documentation is provided?+

The exact pack depends on the project, but handover includes the relevant testing, commissioning, electrical certification and system documentation.
